Unique integrated mast
Headway is determined by two factors. First
of all, of course, the height of the vessel
above water plus anything you or the shipyard
have fastened to the top of the vessel. Studies
have shown that often no thought is given to
the horn, radar on the roof, or the maststep
which remains in place above the roof when the
mast is put down, all of which of course increase
the amount of headway required.
The objective of the E Series was to keep
the headway under 3.45 Metres, in connection
with
sailing
through the French cancels, with the headway
not being influenced by radar, satellite,
horn,
etc.
The developers of Elling came up with the idea
of the integrated mast. This mast, forming a
component of the roof structure, flips backward
65 degrees, so that the headway, despite radar,
marine telephone antenna, etc. remains under
3.45 Metres.
This mast is electrically operated from the
pilothouse so that you needn't go outside
during
bad weather. This mast is available as an option
for various models of the E Series.
